There are so many little tips and tricks you can use to help save money and be frugal throughout the year. Below are some easy money saving tips you might not of thought of. Little by little each tip below can add up and help you save hundred if not thousands throughout the year. You don’t have to implement all of them, but even just a few will help. We all like to save money one way or another, and I bet these tips can help.

  1. Cook at Home – Taking the extra time to prepare snacks and meals at home will save you going to fast food or convenience stores.
  2. Meal Plan – Jotting down a quick meal plan for the week, can save you money in groceries, especially if you meal plan around sale items.
  3. Make A Grocery List – Make a list and stick to it. Prioritize sale items.
  4. Use Grocery Pick Up – Go online, and order groceries online. You not only save money because you only can order what you need, you also save time by not having to go in the store and shop yourself.
  5. Learn How To Make Pantry Staples – Learn how to make pantry staples yourself, examples are granola, yogurt, spice mixes, hot chocolate mix, pancake mix or bread.
  6. Cancel Any Unused Subscriptions – Not watching Netflix or using other apps as much anymore, why not consider canceling them.
  7. Have a Clothes Line – Using a clothes line in the summer, it will save on using the dryer and your clothes will be so much fresher.
  8. Grow Food – You can plant a full garden or only grow a 1 or 2 vegetables you love to eat lots throughout the year. Even if it’s just garlic and a tomatoes.
  9. Cook in Bulk – Why not make a few freezer meals. When your running short of time just throw one in the oven or slow cooker and you’ll have a meal ready at supper time.
  10. Learn How to Preserve Food – Having extra produce is wonderful to have, but unless you know how to properly preserve it is can go to waste. Learn how to water bath can, pressure can, freeze, and dehydrate.
  11. Borrow Items – Only need to use an item for a short time? Ask to borrow it instead of buying one yourself. Some great items to borrow are, a pressure canner, meat grinder, rototiller, etc.
  12. DIY Repairs – Have a leaky faucet? or need something small repaired? Learn how to do it yourself or ask around. It will save you money on hiring it out.
  13. DIY Reno’s – Same as repairs, there is something so satisfying on completing a home renovation project yourself. Start small, like in painting, or replacing trim, as you feel more confident, you can learn to tackle larger projects.
  14. Shop Thrift Stores – You can find clothes, dishes, furniture, appliances and home decor in thrift stores. Holiday decor is always great to find second hand.
  15. Handmade Gifts – Making gifts adds a personal touch and are fun to make.
  16. DIY Home Decor – Try making your own home decor or repurpose something from the thrift store.
  17. Buy in Bulk – Buying items you use lots of, will not only save you money but also time from going to to grocery store as much.
  18. Sell Unused Items – Selling items you no longer need, can put some extra money in your pocket. My favorite places to sell are Facebook Market Place and Poshmark.
  19. Fix What is Broken – If possible fix what broke before buying new.
  20. Barter – If you have a product or service to offer, why not barter with friends and neighbors. Trade garden produce, for eggs or give someone some canning for them coming to till your garden.
  21. Keep Maintenance Up – Changing filters, checking for leaks or drafts and fixing them when you first notice them will have you money in the long run.
  22. Do a Fridge Clean Out – Once a week, make sure you use up what is in your fridge, before it goes bad. Make a big pot of soup or freeze extra vegetables. Bought a big bag of peppers no one is eating learn a new recipe to use them up.
  23. Buy Throughout the Year – Look for Christmas, and birthday gifts throughout the year when you see items on sale. Make sure to remember where you put them.
  24. Shop after the Holiday – Stock up on decor and items after the holiday, to get things on clearance. Wrapping paper, and decor items, are all great to buy and put away for next year.
  25. Use What You Have – Don’t get caught up on the latest trends. Save money by not buying items you already have.
  26. Make a Budget – Figure out what you currently spend by going through bank statements, and figure out what areas you can cut down. Make a budget and stick to it.
  27. Use Cash – If you only carry cash with you, you will be less likely to overspend.
  28. Discover Free Family Activities – Look for ways to spend family time together without having to spend money.
  29. Save for bigger purchases – Need to renovate your bathroom? or want to buy a new fridge. Save for the item instead of relying on credit to pay for it.
  30. Make the trip worth it – Don’t drive to the store just for a couple items, make due until you have enough items or places to go to make trip worth it.
  31. Order online – Look for better prices online if you need to. I love supporting local but if money is tight Amazon might be cheaper.
  32. Hand me Downs – Ask around for hand me down clothes for your kids. Kids grow so fast, buying new clothes all the time can be very expensive. Don’t forget to pass them along when your kids are outgrown them.
  33. DIY Body Care – Learn to make your own, hand cream, lip balm, or soap. There might be a bit of an up front cost, but they will be cheaper in the long run, plus they make great gifts as well.
  34. DIY Cleaning Products – Making your own cleaning products will not only save you money but will also be beneficial to your home and health.
  35. Keep Baking on Hand – Keeping healthy muffins, breakfast cookies, and learning how to make your own desserts, will help you eat healthy and save you money.
